About Us

History

Meridian Credit Union is a not-for-profit, member-owned financial cooperative that exists to serve its members.  Being a not-for-profit cooperative means we return a portion of earnings back to our members by offering competitive rates on deposits and loans.  As a member-owned cooperative, Meridian Credit Union provides a safe place to save and borrow money.

Meridian Credit Union was chartered on February 18, 1952 as Ottumwa School Employees Credit Union to serve the Ottumwa Community School District employees and their families.  The credit union changed its name to Meridian Credit Union on May 1, 2008 and became open to any person residing in Appanoose, Davis, Jefferson, Keokuk, Mahaska, Monroe, Van Buren, or Wapello County in Iowa.
